Elemental Roots: Exploring our Ancestral Mind

Presenter: Hannah Bender

Using qabalah and anthropology, we will explore the many ways in which our interaction with the four elements influenced hominin evolution and continues to influence our evolution today. Utilizing visualization, we will experience the bodily emotions of the earliest hominins as a result of their interactions with the physical elements and then analyze the development of those experiences into our understanding of the archetypal elements utilized in many spiritual traditions, particularly the Western Mystery Tradition. Please join us for an interesting journey into the mind of the earliest hominins!

Hannah is a student of anthropology and religion with an emphasis on rituals, death and dying. In addition to her undergraduate work, she is also a certified death doula and permaculture designer. For almost a decade, she has studied ceremonial magick, qabalah, astrology, tarot and Thelema. Presently, she lives near Los Angeles and is an active member of Temple of Thelema. She is particularly fascinated in the ways in which our physical interactions and conditions give access points into the depths of subconsciousness and its archetypal energies.

The Women of Babalon Salon present an exploration of the Thoth Adjustment card through reading and guided mediation work drawing from the correspondences between Lady Frieda Harris and Aleister Crowley and the various iterations of the Adjustment card. The event will then follow with an opportunity to express through a preferred medium of choice (art, writing/poetry, or music) your experience of the guided meditation and reading. Join us for this unique journey to interact and create with other Thelemic women while exploring the thought-provoking writings between Harris and Crowley.

Babalon Salon is a Thelemic woman’s group that hosts events for all who are interested in learning about the Western Hermetic Tradition. Our studies include Thelema, Golden Dawn, Qabalah, Tarot (primarily the Thoth deck), Ritual Magick, and other Occult topics.

Join us for a unique and powerful ritual through sound and color. This is a group ceremony that utilizes the symbols of Alchemy, Astrology and Tarot to attune ourselves to the harmonious patterns of Life’s vibrations-the Song Celestial, the Music of the Spheres! By raising our consciousnesses and voices together in harmony with love and unity, we reveal and remember the true God within and without.

Andrew Ferren is a musician, producer and educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. A lifelong student of the occult, Andrew has dedicated his focus of study on Qabalah, Thelema and the Hermetic arts for over a decade. He’s an initiate of Temple of Thelema, OTO, and is an ordained Deacon of the E.G.C. He’s currently serving as Dean of Temple of Thelema, Burning Hearts Pronaos, based in Oakland, California.
